Books I Read in 2011

I started off this year doing Booking It with Life as Mom and had selected a book for each month. I loved this goal but only stuck with it through July (I think) and made a few changes along the way. I also started listening to audiobooks on my work commute and loved it! It’s a great way for me to get more “reading” in since I don’t always get a chance to sit down and read when I’m at home.

Here’s what I read this year (or what I remember of what I read!):

Boundaries with Kids by Cloud and Townsend

Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives by Wayne Muller

Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist

One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp (a favorite!)

A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller (another favorite!)

Finding Your Purpose As a Mom by Donna Otto

Captivating by John & Stasi Eldredge

Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson

All Is Grace: A Ragamuffin Memoir by Brennan Manning

Thirty-One Days of Praise: Enjoying God Anew by Ruth Myers (I love this one and just cycle through it again and again!)

Half Broke Horses: A True-Life Novel by Jeannette Walls

How to Be an American Housewife by Margaret Dilloway (Just started this a few days ago and should be finishing it up today!)

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo (Just started)

Listened to:

The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun by Gretchen Rubin

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson

Her Daughter’s Dream and Her Mother’s Hope by Francine Rivers

And some books I’ve been referencing this year but haven’t read cover to cover:

Naturally Healthy Babies and Children: A Commonsense Guide to Herbal Remedies, Nutrition, and Health by Aviva Jill Romm (love this one!)

Super Natural Home: Improve Your Health, Home, and Planet–One Room at a Time by Beth Greer

Rosemary Gladstar’s Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health: 175 Teas, Tonics, Oils, Salves, Tinctures, and Other Natural Remedies for the Entire Family by Rosemary Gladstar

  1. You and I have some of the same books on our list, several of them ones I found to be life-changing. Would love to know what you think of Heaven is for Real. I was absolutely amazed. Love your list. Love the way we can catch a glimpse of someone's personality by seeing what they read. :)

  6. I love your list. I have Boundaries for Kids and started but somehow got sidetracked. I need to pull it out again and get to reading. It's been a bit crazy here with 3 boys and I think this book will help. I've read Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller but need to check out A Million Miles. Thanks for the ideas and thanks for stopping by to see my list. :)
