February Already?

Last month’s goals went really well. So far, I am loving setting goals just one month at a time. I did notice that I need to be more specific in some of my goal setting. For example, my Healthy Living Goal for January was: Drink more water. What exactly does that look like? A little vague I think. I ended up deciding that for me, my more specific goal was to drink a minimum of 6-8 glasses of water a day, and I was able to stick to that. But I probably should have spelled it out more to start with. So from now on, I’m going to try to be more specific with my monthly goals.

Book to Read: The Dirty Life: A Memoir of Farming, Food, and Love by Kristin Kimball.
My birthday was in January, so over the last couple months with Christmas and my birthday, I’ve received lots of great new books, so it’s hard to choose, but I’ve been wanting to read this one for awhile.

One book I got for my birthday is The Rhythm of Family: Discovering a Sense of Wonder through the Seasons by Amanda and Stephen Soule. It’s broken up by month, so I’ll read each month as it comes along. So far I’m loving it.

Word for the Month: Love. Appropriate for February, right?

Verse: “Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 Several months ago I read this post by Stacy at A Delightful Home and it really resonated with me. I wrote the verse on sticky notes around my home and in my car and most of them are still lingering around. This month I want to focus again on doing everything in love. Yes, it’s a tall order. And no, I won’t always get it right. But I’m going to try.

Healthy Living Goal: Take Vitamin D daily. I had a physical in January and found out that my Vitamin D levels were low so I’m trying to get in the habit of taking Vitamin D supplements daily, unless I’ve already spent enough time in the sun that day. Read more about Vitamin D here.

Scrub of the Month: Geranium-Lemon Sugar Scrub inspired by Simple Scrubs to Make and Give.

Make or Do: Depending on what my CSA box brings my way, I’m planning to make either these Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Cranberries with Barley, or these Sauteed Lemon Brussels Sprouts, or this Crunchy Kale and Coconut Bowl. And I’m also planning to make these lace and twine votive jars or this adorable book page paper hearts version.

That’s it! Do you have any goals for the month? I’m linking up over at Simply Rebekah. Head on over to see her Insane Goals.

  1. I totally agree about my goals needing to be specific. Last year I made several personal goals that just didn't seem to happen. Looking back, it probably because they were too open ended. Thanks for the inspiration and for linking up!

  2. Vitamin d is so important! Mine has been low for about 20 years now and I only just discovered that two years ago (thank you, thyroid). I've been taking smaller doses through the day to help with absorption.

I love how you have laid out your goals!

Just curious…how much Vitamin D do you take per day? My doctor sent me a letter and it said to take 4000IU but that seems like quite a lot so I wasn't sure if it was a typo or something! I usually take closer to 2000IU I think.

  3. 8-10 glasses of water everyday is the practice I have been following since I was a kid. My mother won't stop asking me if I have taken enough water for the day. It makes me healthy…
