I’m so excited to be linking up with Simply Rebekah’s Day in the Life again this year. I find it so fascinating to see what everyone’s daily lives are like. It works like this: you choose a day, and take a picture every hour throughout that day, creating a visual photo journal of your everyday life. Here’s mine:
My days vary depending on if I’m working from home or not. And if Charlotte has classes that day or if it’s a homeschool day. This day in the life was a Wednesday (January 16th) when Charlotte was at home and I was working from home. So it’s a pretty typical look at what those types of days look like for us.
6:15 Time to wake up! I’ve taken over my daughter’s alarm clock because I love how it lights up to wake me up rather than making a bunch of noise. (It’s the OK to Wake! Children’s Alarm Clock and Nightlight. It also has a nap time feature where you can set it for a certain amount of time and tell your little napper they can get up with the clock glows.) I’m off to hop in the shower and head out the door to make deliveries for my CSA. As I’m headed out the door I get a text from a good friend that she just had baby girl #4! So exciting!
7:15 Trunk of my car is loaded up and ready to go make my deliveries. I do home deliveries for Abundant Harvest Organics, which helps offset the cost of my CSA box each week.
8:15 Just getting home, only my box left in the trunk. Headed in to get Charlotte started on homeschooling.
9:15 Homeschooling Charlotte (in her PJ’s), and trying to work at the same time. Not always the best idea. Isaac’s watching Tinkerbell (don’t judge).
10:15 More of the same: homeschooling Charlotte and trying to get some work done at the same time.
11:15 Finally unpacking my produce box and feeling overwhelmed by the amount of produce I need to fit in my fridge. Charlotte’s still hard at work. Feels like time is flying by and we still have so much to do.
12:15 Time for lunch. Heating up leftover Thai food from last night. Kids had a snacky lunch of cheese, crackers, salami, mandarin oranges from our produce box, and cherry tomatoes.
1:15 Just put Isaac down for nap and about to read Story of the World with Charlotte before her rest time.
2:15 Working, working, working while the kids are napping. Missed this picture, but I promise it wouldn’t have been too exciting!
3:15 Still working frantically.
4:15 Starting dinner. I’m trying Stacy’s Chocolate Chili recipe for the first time. It needs to simmer for 2 hours, and I’m wishing I started it a little bit earlier. But, it turned out great, and according to my husband, it was “some of the best chili he’s ever had”.
5:15 A friend and her girls stopped by for a quick visit, and I forgot to take a picture.
6:15 Giving the kids a bath.
7:15 Reading Little Women with Charlotte (she loves these great illustrated classics
–abridged versions of classics with illustrations) while the boys watch Toy Story 3 (which Isaac calls “Hat”). I guess because Woody wears a hat?
8:15: Kids are in bed and for once actually asleep already (I think). Finishing up a few emails and then going to watch last night’s Parenthood.
10:15 After some catching up on shows and reading in bed, it’s time for lights out for me!
So, that’s my day in a life. Here’s last year’s, and be sure to check out the link up at Simply Rebekah.

Hi! I found your link on Simple Homeschool and I love your site! My blog is "Sacred Mundane" so we share a bit of our titles.
Thanks for sharing this fun snapshot, it's always fun to see how other homeschool fams do it. All the best to you!!
i love your life! thanks for sharing the little moments.
I added that alarm clock to my wishlist! I like the idea of Grace knowing that she needs to stay in bed until the clock lights up. Thanks for the tip and for joining in again this year!
You'll love it! You can set a specific wake up time in the morning and then tell her she has to wait until the light goes off before she can get up, and you can set it for a nap/rest/quiet time for a specific amount of time and tell her she can come out when it lights up. My 6 yr old still has rest time most days for an hour and a half and she usually just rests in her bed and reads books until it goes off, giving me some quiet time for myself. It's great!
A bit jealous of your CSA and all that yummy produce! And, inspired by your early waking time…I so need to become a morning person!
Have you heard of Hello Mornings put on by Kat from Inspired to Action? That's how I get up early…I definitely need the accountability to make it happen!
